Today at work, I was tasked with creating an online profile for prospective students to interact with. The powers that be would like us to engage with students more effectively by sharing more about ourselves - hobbies, interests, details. So I've spent the last two hours looking up photos on the interwebs that help to illustrate some of my interests: travel, swimming, dancing, reading, family time, etc. As I was captioning some of the travel photos, I wanted to get specific with towns and locations.... and totally blanked. How could I not remember the name of the city where I learned to surf in Morocco? Or the park in Ireland where my legs nearly fell off because I was riding a bike up some MOUNTAINS (that had been mistakenly identified as mere "hills")? I was aghast at my own memory. Thank goodness I had this handy blog to fall back on; a quick jog down memory lane to reference Agadir as my surf Mecca, and Killarney National Park as the site of my near-demise. As I struggled to remember details of other trips - Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro, Phoenix, South Dakota, Florence, Boston, and on and on, I realized that I need to get my shit together and get this blog going again. For myself, as an online reference of the amazing trips I've been fortunate to take. So that's what I'm gonna do. I suppose I'll have to rename this little baby, since my hops are not exclusively across the pond, but I have to figure out how to do that now that the whole website is set up differently from when I was in college...
BUT, I've gotta start somewhere, and there's no time like the present. This (re)inaugural post will serve as a reminder to Future Kate that slacking when it comes time to write down the stories will only lead to lost adventures. Because if I don't remember it, who will?
